Blog 28th October  2025

Welcome to the ScotCampers fortnightly blog.

Last couple of weeks summarised by, guests, van mods and socials.

It was great to receive yet another 5 star review from a guest.  On this particular booking, I actually dropped the ball re. what I thought was availability and wasn’t.  In my corporate life dealing with customers, I saw complaints as an opportunity to get something right.  I worked with Stephen around alternate dates and offered as much flexibility as I could and here’s his view:

Great experience over 4 nights in the far north of Scotland! Alan was a great host, contactable and very helpful at all times. Bilbo is a great van, nicely equipped and efficient. The heater was needed as the nights are cooling down. Would highly recommend and will hopefully book again soon.”

I think this reinforces speaking to people and working with them, gets the service right.  I was in London last weekend and boy, this is far from the case in some places there…… sad times.

I delivered the van to Mark near Newcastle last week.  He’s got a big trip ahead of him – up through Skye, sailing ont Harris and then ferry back from Lewis to Ullapool.  I hope the weather holds.  I worked with him around embellishing his route (Gairloch, Torridon, NE coast and Speyside) – will be intrigued to see how he gets on.  He’s going to be a contact going forward as turns out he has a brewery and his product is decent!

As the season draws to a close, my focus is on 2026.  Specifically, getting the vans ready for the season ahead.  So, my 2 berth, Stormcrow I think is a little tired on the inside.  I have a plan around replacing the kitchen, including new sink, hob and fridge.  I’ll get me local modifier, Barry, to do the major work but last week, I cracked on with replacing the roof.  I’d seen a van at a show with acoustic panelling on the roof, which I thought looked smart.  So, here was last week’s labours:

And here’s the after:

Looks a lot better and added benefit of additional insulation for those chillier evenings.

Another focus last week was socials.  I’m posting three times a week now and engagement is on the up.  Last week, I met with Sophie from https://sophiegetssocial.com  at the Falkirk Wheel for a photo shoot.  Not really my thing but the results were great – especially videos with music.  Helped me understand the importance of quality content.  Here’s a couple of stills from her:

Next period sees me trying out an advert in the local community magazine, getting vans in for MOTs ahead of Christmas and mobilising the plan around Stormcrow’s – that includes a trip to Liverpool to visit a van conversion company.

Dm me to discuss a 2026 discounted hire rate and until next time, remember, not all those who wander are lost.
