Blog 12th November 2025
Welcome to the ScotCampers fortnightly blog.
Last couple of weeks summarised by, season tailing off, van improvements and ready for ‘26.
As expected, and as the nights draw in, demand for hires has reduced – this was always in plan. It’s a good time to reflect though – set up in April, lots of nice people met, lots of learning, some stress but I have a smile on my face. Think the biggest reflection is service – this was my number one ambition at the beginning of the year and I’m looking back on, not so much 5 star reviews, happy customers. And I believe that’s the approach. Yes, things have gone wrong but it’s the way that these inevitable events are responded to and dealt with. I do have two more hire requests for next week and Christmas but aside from that, it’s all about maintenance and getting ready for a new set of hirers next year – look forward to meeting you!
Maintenance has been full on with servicing, new brakes and tyres on Bilbo. 2nd van has been treated to a new floor and roof finalised.
I am planning to replace the kitchen in van 2 so that involved a road trip to Liverpool to visit a conversion company – Liverpool Campervan Conversions – family run business which has been on the go for 15 years.

This was of course an excuse to get in the hills in the Lake District. Destination Ullswater where a very experienced guide I know, helped me out with navigating the eastern lakes (Fells around Ullswater). Good to have contacts like that who have forgotten more than I know!
Back to Liverpool. So, Steve at Liverpool Campervan Conversions will be a good contact going forward. He has facilities to manufacture furniture to a number of colours – only problem is choosing!

He also manufactures beds and does full conversions from scratch. That is likely a plan for Spring 2026 around van 3. So, van 2 upgrades will include; floor, roof, lighting, kitchen, sink/hob and bigger solar panel for more time off grid. I’m trying to do as much as I can myself to, a) save money and b) learn how these things are put together! Plan is ready for the 2026 season.
2026 is the main focus with a meeting with my web builders, Sam and Craig at BWAR. Have also secured some digital marketing support. Advert being taken out in local magazine (15% of my hirers this year were within 20 miles of me).
I envisaged this being a quiet time of year but it’s actually full on!
Next period sees me back down to Liverpool to pick up my kitchen. Personally, likely doing a couple more Munros and marshalling at a local Landrover event next weekend – really hope someone gets stuck – love a bit of recovery!
DM me to discuss a 2026 discounted hire rate and until next time, remember, not all those who wander are lost.
