Welcome to the ScotCampers fortnightly blog.
A very busy couple of weeks! Summarised by, guests, exploring Kinghorn, new van, Munro count.
It was great to welcome back Lionel and Emile from their adventure – great couple and what an adventure. Including, Culloden, seeing dolphins at Chanonry Point and the Bullers of Buchan. Not a bad view from one of their overnights, also:

All my guests 9So far) head north from Kinross to explore the highlands and I thought this time, I’d go and explore a bit of Fife – 30 minutes from Kinross, the lovely, Kinghorn. Beautiful. Cracking pair of beaches – Kinghorn Beach and Pettycur Bay. Bit of history around Kinghorn – notably where King Alexander III fell from his horse on Pettycur Bay in 1286 and died. This led to a succession crisis and the Scottish Wars of Independence. You never know what hyou’ll discover if you do a bit of wandering……
Anyway, one of those hidden wee gems you don’t expect to encounter – I’m a big fan and will be back!

So, the new van. It’s a very clean Type 5 Transporter with hob/sink and a rock ‘n roll bed. It’s a two berth and conscious of size inside, I’ve invested in an awning rail in order to have outside eating/sitting space. I thought I knew about awnings but picked up with a seasoned campervan pro with lots of advice. Needless to say, right decision now made. Thanks to the team at Jones’ Vans (once you get past the accents!).
Next on the cards with the new van was a roadtrip. I see these as really important as I get to see the van through the eyes of a customer. I ticked off a couple of Munros from Braemar on the way to a lovely overnight in Portsoy. Almost bumped into King Charles as he was in residence at Balmoral – I was up the day after the Braemar Gathering. Flushed out a couple of minor problems, which was good. Allows me to get the van perfect for the first hirer. (Available for hire now so please just message me.)
Touching on Munros, big couple of days in Cairngorms. Clocked up 70,000 steps in two days. Don’t be fooled by this, I could hardly walk down the stairs to make a cup of tea the following day! I’m now at 126 out of the 282 and objective is 15 more this year to get to the halfway point. Sounds like an excuse for another roadtrip!

Busy couple of weeks ahead as Bilbo (van 1) is out a lot with only small gaps in between. During these gaps, as well as the regular maintenance/cleaning, I want to service it and probably do some seasonal maintenance. A bit of crawling around in driveway to come!
Next time, I’ll update you on Kaz from Wales and Kris, the videographer from Poland. I’ll probably also touch on my annual pilgrimage to the utterly brilliant, Goodwood Revival. Until next time however, remember, not all those who wander are lost.
