7th July 2025

Welcome to the ScotCampers fortnightly blog.  Late one this fortnight due to school break up and taking the boys to France for a week.

I was mountain biking – one of my principle past times and great to get the weather and hanging out with like minded folks.  If you want to know how hot it was at 4,000feet, here’s the evidence ;-):

Morzine was the destination, where I’ve been several times.  The boys and I took our own bikes which involves dismantling at home, loading in a bike bag.  Then, flight to Geneva and an hour and a half (windy roads!) transfer to Morzine.  Interestingly, lots of brits in campervans there which got me thinking for next year.  Especially so as thought about hiring a car and visiting Chamonix (an hour away) and the lovely lakeside town of Annecy (also, an hour away).  Think the only problem might be the heat at night as it was warm in our hotel room as it was.  One for the pad for next year.  Hirers are covered for continental travel, including breakdown so just get in touch to discuss requirements.

With being away, lots to do ahead of the trip and shed loads when back – still getting my head around being Finance director, Sales and Marketing director, Workshop supervisor and the rest!  Day I got back a last minute booking landed for Catherine from Belgium for the end of this month so that was one of the more pleasant jobs to action!  My god-daughter Abs got married the day after I got back to a cracking lad, Ross.  Aberdeen supporter so what’s not to like?!  The wedding was at the lovely Kirknewton farm stables which a lovely venue.  Only problem is it’s a remote location and requires a half hour or so taxi back late at night.  Imagine the jealous looks when I turned up in the van and proceeded to tuck myself in for the night as the taxis started arriving!  The joys of owning a campervan.

On my return from the Alps, I also came back to some great feedback from my last two hirers.  I’m at three 5/5s now so bit of pressure (in a good way!) to maintain the standard.  Here’s the verbatims:

The van was great! There were 3 of us and the van felt like it was new to us. We loved all the cool nifty gadgets it had and we never had a problem. Alan was great assistance from afar as well. Any problems we had he was willing to help by phone/message. We’d definitely book again!

Aaron; June 2025

Had a lovely trip up in the Highlands in this camper – immaculate, had everything we needed and so comfortable, slept great. Alan was so helpful from booking to the end of our trip, which we appreciated. Would hire again!

I have availability in September so please get in touch to discuss requirements.

Catch you next time and remember, not all those who wander are lost.
